HoYoverse has previously teased the addition of a user-generated content mode to Genshin Impact and now confirmed that it expects this substantial expansion of the game to go live in 2025.
Similar to Fortnite or Roblox, these tools enable players and creators to build their own games within Genshin Impact’s framework and publish them for the global community to play — from management simulations over first-person shooters to turn-based RPGs or platformers, pretty much anything is possible. Very basic versions of the coming toolset have already been tested in-game via the Serenitea Pot and Divine Ingenuity modes, but players can expect the actual UGC tools to be a lot more powerful than what we’ve seen so far.
Both solo and multiplayer experiences can be created with the coming toolset and HoYoverse itself already built some social hubs for players to freely hang out in.
HoYoverse also confirmed its intentions to gradually make most of Genshin Impact’s assets available as part of the UGC tools, giving creators a huge amount of material to work with. If these tools prove to be accessible and powerful enough for the massive and creative fandom Genshin Impact has amassed, this move has the potential to transform the game into its own platform akin to Fortnite and Roblox, making the IP even more appealing to a broad audience than it already is.
Perhaps connected to the upcoming UGC mode, Genshin Impact will end its service on PS4 in 2026.
