Teyana Taylor’s Directorial Debut, David Corenswet NFL Drama Get Dates

Paramount is drafting some new release dates for a number of its films.

An untitled, inspirational biopic of NFL player John Tuggle will take the Dec. 25, 2026 spot. The inspirational story stars Superman‘s David Corenswet as John Tuggle, dubbed “Mr. Irrelevant” after being picked last in the 1983 draft by the New York Giants. Jonathan Levine directs a cast that also includes Michael Shannon and Isabel May. Tuggle, who died of cancer in 1986, played for a single season but had a large impact on his team.

As usual, the Christmas corridor is packed this year, with both Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part III set for a week earlier on Dec. 18. Angry Birds 3 hits on Dec. 23, while Robert Eggers’ Werewulf bows Christmas Day, alongside the John Tuggle movie.

Paramount’s other new dates include One Battle After Another star Teyana Taylor‘s directorial debut, Get Lite, which is set for April 9, 2027. The feature stars Storm Reid and centers on “a talented, but sheltered, dance student” who “finds inspiration, love, and family in the last place he expected: the subways of New York City,” per the log line.

The Brandon Sklenar-led modern-day western The Rescue arrives on Jan. 29, 2027. It is directed by Potsy Ponciroli and also stars Hassie Harrison, and centers on a cowboy who must put his skills to the test outside the rodeo.

And the studio has also set an untitled event horror film for July 16, 2027. The studio still has A Quiet Place Part III set for two weeks later on July 30, 2027.
