The Revenge Set Safety Lapses After BMC Blacklists Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios

Just a month out from its planned big-screen arrival, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has found itself in the middle of an uncomfortable conversation that Bollywood has faced far too often: set safety. The latest flashpoint is not a social media spat or a creative dispute, but an official civic clampdown in Mumbai, followed swiftly by a strong-worded industry response.

Ranveer Singh’s high-profile action thriller, directed by Aditya Dhar and mounted by his banner B62 Studios, is now under scrutiny after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) moved to penalise and blacklist the production house for alleged repeated violations during a recent shoot in South Mumbai.

The Latest Update: AICWA Backs BMC Action, Calls Violations “Gross Negligence”

The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued an official press note addressed by its president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, condemning what it termed “alarming safety violations” on the film’s set. “The life, safety, and dignity of film industry workers, technicians, and labourers cannot be compromised under any circumstances,” the statement said.

AICWA also pointed to recurring tragedies on sets, adding, “Due to such gross negligence, every year several workers lose their lives, while many others suffer severe injuries caused by fires, electric shocks, and collapsing or unsafe sets.” The organisation referenced past incidents at Goregaon Film City and other studios as reminders of what is at stake when safety protocols are treated casually.

The body further stated it has submitted complaints to the Chief Minister and the BMC, pushing for stricter enforcement and legal action against violators. It also explicitly supported the civic body’s move, saying, “When safety norms are ignored, thousands of workers are put in danger.”

Why BMC Acted Against B62 Studios

According to reports, BMC’s A-Ward flagged multiple alleged breaches tied to the production’s permissions and on-ground conduct. These included use of burning torches in a high-security zone that led to Mumbai Police intervention and seizure of equipment. Other alleged violations included changing the shooting location without required permission, using a building terrace without clearance, operating two generator vans without valid approval, and reportedly using gas cylinders for cooking on set.

The civic action, as reported, includes forfeiture of a Rs 25,000 security deposit and a proposed Rs 1 lakh penalty. BMC has also decided to blacklist B62 Productions from applying for filming permissions through the online facility used for shoots in Mumbai.

Ranveer Singh’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Singh’s last major theatrical outing was Dhurandhar (2025), which went on to become a massive box office success, setting the stage for the sequel’s March 19, 2026 release. Before that, his notable releases in the past few years include Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), directed by Karan Johar, and Cirkus (2022), directed by Rohit Shetty.

With Dhurandhar: The Revenge positioned as his next big theatrical pivot, the current controversy has put an unplanned spotlight on how large-scale sets are run, and whether accountability can finally match ambition.
