Residents at Cramlington House Care Home were treated to a deliciously cheesy celebration in honour of National Cheese Day, transforming the lounge into a vibrant tasting room filled with flavours from across the globe. The event brought together residents, staff, and families for a joyful afternoon of sampling, storytelling, and shared memories.
Tables were adorned with an impressive spread of international cheeses, from creamy French Brie and tangy Spanish Manchego to bold Italian Gorgonzola and crumbly English Stilton. Each cheese was paired with a selection of pickles and chutneys, including fiery Indian lime pickle, sweet German gherkins, and traditional British piccalilli, offering a delightful contrast of textures and tastes.
Residents were encouraged to explore the different pairings, sparking lively conversations about travel, family recipes, and long-forgotten favourites.
The event wasn’t just about indulgence, it was a celebration of culture, connection, and curiosity.
Wellbeing Champion, Kim Stubbs, said, “Food has a wonderful way of bringing people together. Today was about more than cheese, it was about joy, nostalgia, and discovery and the residents loved it.”
National Cheese Day at Cramlington House proved that even the simplest pleasures can spark meaningful moments. With laughter echoing through the halls and taste buds tingling, it was a celebration that truly aged to perfection – just like a fine cheddar!
