A French anime news outlet reported that Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World Season 4 would air in January 2026, based on an email it claimed to have received from Crunchyroll France.
However, the streaming platform’s French PR later confirmed that the release date had been included by mistake.
On Aug 2, French site Manga News shared that Crunchyroll had confirmed Re:Zero Season 4 would premiere exclusively on its platform in January 2026. The email was published as a screenshot.
A translation of the mail can be read below:
Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- is confirmed for a Season 4, which will be available exclusively on Crunchyroll in January 2026. It is still produced by studio WHITE FOX (Steins;Gate), with Masahiro Shinohara returning as director after Season 3.
Shortly after the news gained traction, Manga News issued a correction and shared a follow-up email from the person handling press communication for Crunchyroll in France, clarifying that the date was inaccurate. They stated that the January 2026 listing was a proofreading oversight.
Translation:
Hello,
Yes, I do handle matters for Crunchyroll.
It’s an error that remained in the press release despite our proofreading. For now, we have no further details beyond ‘planned for 2026.’
I remain available for any requests or questions.
As of now, no official release date for Re:Zero Season 4 has been confirmed.
The season was announced immediately after the end of third season’s broadcast. This was the first time that a new season was announced so quickly for Re:Zero.
The official plot of Re:Zero Season 4 is described as follows –
Even after securing a hard-fought victory in the deadly battle in the Water Gate City Pristella, the price Subaru and his allies paid was immense. Rem remained asleep due to the authority of “Gluttony,” Crusch had her memories stolen, and Julius was stripped of his name.
As they searched for clues to save them, Subaru learned of Shaula the “Sage,” said to foresee everything and possess all knowledge. Their next destination: the Pleiades Observation Tower, where the Sage resides. This remote tower stands tall in the Auguria Dunes, a vast desert that even the strongest “Sword Saint” Reinhard couldn’t conquer.
Battling rampant nature, unknown magical beasts, and unimaginable threats, the boy’s life-risking journey to reclaim everything with his comrades begins.
White Fox will be returning to animate the fourth season, with key staff and cast members also expected to return.
