HoYoverse has announced that Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.5, titled “Before Their Deaths,” will go live on August 13. The update will continue the Amphorean storyline and introduce two new five-star characters, new events, along with a visit to Styxia, the City of Infinite Revelry. This follows the previous Version 3.4, which launched on July 2 with a Fate/stay night collaboration.
The latest Trailblaze Mission sends players back 1,000 years to the ancient realm of Okhema, a time when Imperator Cerydra, ruler of Okhema and holder of the Law Coreflame, was still on the throne. The update marks the start of the second half of the Amphoreus arc and goes deeper into the game’s time-travel and mythology. You can watch the trailer below.
New Playable Characters
Version 3.5 introduces two five-star characters:
- Hysilens (Physical, Nihility): Commander of the Holy City’s knights. Specializes in Damage over Time (DoT) mechanics, applying random types of DoT through her abilities and reducing enemy ATK and DEF while her Zone is active.
- Imperator Cerydra (Wind, Harmony): A tactician with long-term scaling buffs. Grants allies “Military Merit,” increasing ATK and enabling skill replication and resistance penetration. Her Ultimate targets all enemies and builds Charge for continued support.

The banner will also bring back Kafka and Silver Wolf, both 5-star characters from earlier versions, appearing in the first and second warp phases respectively.
New Location and Boss
Players will explore Styxia, described as the City of Infinite Revelry. There will also be a new boss, Lygus, a shifting enemy with dual forms.

New Events
- Chrysos Maze Grand Restaurant: A restaurant management event where players serve fairies in Aedes Elysiae.
- Old Brews & New Friends: A return to Dreamjolt Hostelry with drink-mixing gameplay and returning NPCs.

A new voice toggle feature will allow players to switch between in-game dubs and original licensed voice actors for collaboration characters. The update also comes ahead of the game’s appearance at Gamescom 2025, where fans will be able to visit the booth and receive promotional items.
Honkai: Star Rail is currently available on PC, PS5, iOS, Android, and the Epic Games Store. The game has surpassed 150 million downloads and has received multiple awards, including App Store’s iPhone Game of the Year and Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2023.
