Joe Biden, come get your son.
The former president’s progeny Hunter has launched a scorched-earth media tour blaming everyone under the sun for his father’s failed presidential re-election bid.
It was the fault of Democratic elites, advisers, strategists, Ambien, George Clooney. It was Colonel Mustard in the drawing room with a candlestick.
And in his foul-mouthed screed against all who he believes took down the “Big Guy,” he inadvertently spoke some home truths while dragging the Democratic Party.
Appearing Monday in an episode of “At Our Table,” a new podcast hosted by former Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison, Hunter said “I love George Clooney’s movies, but I don’t really give a (expletive) about what he thinks about who should be the nominee for the Democratic Party.”
Clooney had called for the then 81-year-old Biden to drop his presidential bid last July in a full page ad in the New York Times.
Hunter spoke for many of us. The West Coast glitterati are ardent Democratic supporters. But as some 77 million people indicated in November, not everyone cares what they think.
As for the game-changing debate performance that spurred the charge to get Biden out of the race, Hunter Biden puts the blame on Ambien. He told Andrew Callaghan of YouTube Channel 5 that his father had been given the medication to help him sleep after his trips to Europe and Los Angeles before the debate.
“He’s 81 years old, he’s tired as (expletive),” Hunter Biden said. “They give him Ambien to be able to sleep, and he gets up on the stage and he looks like he’s a deer in the headlights.”
How does he explain the former president’s other lapses during public events?
Hunter Biden didn’t spare former Obama strategist David Axelrod, saying he “had one success in his political life, and that was Barack Obama.” Other former Obama aides who now host “Pod Save America,” are “four white millionaires that are dining out on their association with Barack Obama from 16 years ago,” he said.
As the Associated Press reported, one of the four, Tommy Vietor, took to social media to applaud Hunter Biden’s decision “to process the election, look inward, and hold himself accountable for how his family’s insular, dare I say arrogant at times, approach to politics led to this catastrophic outcome we’re all now living with.”
Just what the Democrats need, a public, off-the-leash reminder of the 2024 campaign fiasco, underscored by Biden’s baggage and behind-the-scenes party machinations. The Daily Beast summed up the view from the left with this headline: “Hunter Biden Really Needs to Shut It.”
You would think that someone who got a pardon from his president dad, sparing him from a possible prison sentence, would be content to lay low and relish his freedom. But Hunter speaks with the indignant passion of someone who made nearly $1.5 million selling his art during his father’s campaign and the early years of his administration.
As the New York Post reported, “In the 2 to 3 years prior to December 2023, I sold 27 pieces for art at an average price of $54,481.48, but since then I have only sold 1 piece of art for $36,000,” Hunter Biden’s attorneys said earlier this year.
No wonder he’s angry.
