6 January 2026: New anime I plan to watch during the Winter 2026 season
This does look sort of terrible, though.
There is one Autumn 2025 leftover, a couple continuously running series, and multiple sequels that I plan to watch for Winter 2026, but there are not a lot of new shows starting that have me particularly enthused. Honestly, it’s a good thing there are so many good titles returning, as it would otherwise be looking sort of dire. To put this into perspective, the “top” new show I have penciled in is this Ichigo Aika: Zatsu de Namaiki na Imouto to Warikirenai Ani (Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy) thing that I’ve never even heard of. I’m just assuming it one of those borderline porn things because OceanVeil has it. That’s at least something.

Next up is Eris no Seihai (The Holy Grail of Eris), another show I know nothing about, but I saw the words “ghost” and “villainess” in a description for it, and I do love me some ghosts and villainesseseses. There’s also a death-game anime: Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu. (Shiboyugi: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table). This one is by Studio DEEN and seems to involve a girl who joins these things to make money. That sounds like a terrible choice when she could pick a life of crime instead, but I’m not here to tell people how to live their lives.
Of course you have heterochromia.
Finally, I’m willing to give Yuusha no Kuzu (Scum of the Brave) a chance because it’s based off a web manga but already planned for a least two cours. That means it has to be good. Right? Unfortunately, the trailer made it seem like it’s going to be shounen jive, so that sank my expectations for it immediately. There are probably a couple more anime that aren’t even on my radar that I’ll end up adding later on based on word of mouth. That’s how I ended up watching Clevatess a few months ago. That worked out okay.
