Name change not changing services at Reserve Care

Old habits sometimes are hard to break.

So we wonder how long it will take for people to start calling Hospice of the Western Reserve by its new name — Reserve Care.

The name change is a reflection of the organization’s full scope of services and its role supporting individuals and families across Ohio through caregiving, serious illness and end of life, according to a news release cited in a News-Herald staff report.

Founded nearly 50 years ago as a nonprofit hospice provider in Northeast Ohio, the organization has served nearly 640,000 patients and family members throughout its history, the release stated.

Over time, it has expanded to offer personalized services across the continuum of care, including hospice and palliative care, pediatric services, grief and caregiver support, art and music therapies, and community resale shops that help fund care.

“Reserve Care more clearly reflects the breadth of care we provide and the way we walk alongside people over the course of their care journey,” President and CEO Bill Finn stated in the release.

The transition to Reserve Care does not change the care patients and families receive, the release stated. The organization’s mission, values, leadership and care teams remain the same — ensuring continuity of care for families across Ohio.

Nevertheless, it’s still good to see that Reserve Care already is working to increase awareness about the name change.
