North London has gained a new independent record shop, bar and café in the shape of One Eighty One on Holloway Road in Islington.

Located a short walk from Highbury & Islington and Holloway Road stations, the shop operates as a laid back record shop and café serving coffee and simple food in the daytime, with crates focussed on hip hop, house, soul and related sounds.
At night, it transforms into a DJ led bar for local heads, collectors and visiting artists, with a programme of selectors drawn from London’s underground scenes.

There’s a well stocked bar at the back of the premises,

DJ and promoter Rod “Spin Doctor” Gilmore is the man behind this venture.

Hefty vintage Tannoy Cheviot speakers lurk in every corner. These were previously employed as studio monitors in the legendary Abbey Road recording complex.
