Pokémon Gen 10 Leak Confirms Number Of Gyms, Start Planning Your Team

Pokémon is officially celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year, which means we’re getting a number of special collaborations, brand-new releases, and even a few big announcements. While it’s yet to be confirmed, it’s strongly rumored that The Pokémon Company will hold a special Pokémon Presents on February 27, otherwise known as Pokémon Day.

What can we expect at this Pokémon Presents? An update on the upcoming Pokémon Pokopia, most likely, as well as a few other surprises. One thing we’re all expecting, based on multiple leaks, is the big reveal of Pokémon Gen 10, or Pokémon Wind & Waves. Of course, quite a bit of Pokémon Gen 10 info has already leaked, including new tidbits on the Pokémon Gyms in the game.

How Many Gyms Will Pokémon Gen 10 Feature?

You won’t be surprised…

Pokémon Charizard

It probably won’t come as a shock to you to learn that Pokémon Wind & Waves look set to feature eight unique Pokémon Gyms for trainers to visit over the course of their adventure. While not confirmed, it looks incredibly likely that Wind & Waves will be open-world like Scarlet & Violet, so expect to be able to tackle the Gyms in any order you choose.

According to Centro Leaks on X, these are the eight Gyms broken down by type. Obviously, don’t read on if you don’t want to be spoiled!

  • Grass
  • Poison
  • Flying
  • Fighting
  • Dark
  • Normal
  • Steel
  • Fairy

Eight Pokémon Gyms is, of course, the norm for Pokémon games. The only real exception is Pokémon Gold & Silver, which featured 16 Gym Badges to collect and still haunts my dreams as the perfect example of how to do post-game content. But I’m getting off track.

Pokémon Gen 10 Will Have More To Do Beyond The Gyms

Gotta be the very best, right?

According to the leaks, it sounds as if Pokémon Wind & Waves will have more than just Gyms for players to conquer. There are multiple islands to explore across a vast ocean with plenty of Pokémon to catch, that should keep us busy. There’s also something called Research Labs, which I believe are extra challenges not unlike Scarlet & Violet‘s Starfall Street, which saw Trainers conquer enemy bases.

According to Centro Leaks, there are six research labs dedicated to six specific types: Fire, Pyschic, Ice, Ground, Rock, Ghost. In other words, there’ll be a ton of things to do if these leaks turn out to be accurate.

Pokémon Wind & Waves will likely be announced in just a few weeks, so be sure to mark February 27 in your calendar and tune in to see what the future of Pokémon holds.
