Priyadarshan’s Horror Comedy Now Arrives in Theatres on April 10, 2026

Akshay Kumar is set to return to the big screen with a genre-driven entertainer, and the wait just got shorter. Balaji Motion Pictures’ upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, headlined by Akshay Kumar, has officially locked a new theatrical release date. The film was earlier slated to arrive in cinemas on May 15, 2026, but the makers have now preponed it to April 10, 2026, giving audiences an earlier date with what is being positioned as a big-ticket horror comedy.

The date change has instantly put the spotlight back on Bhooth Bangla, which has been steadily building anticipation since its announcement, particularly because it brings together Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan, a combination audiences strongly associate with comedy-led theatrical entertainers. The film is mounted by Balaji Motion Pictures, with the production also tied to Akshay Kumar’s banner Cape of Good Films.

Bhooth Bangla new release date officially confirmed

The updated release plan has been announced by the makers, confirming that Bhooth Bangla will now hit theatres on April 10, 2026. Alongside the new date, the official film details also reaffirm the project’s high-profile ensemble and key creatives.

Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, is presenting the film in association with Cape of Good Films. The cast includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav, setting the stage for a multi-character comedy setup within a horror backdrop.

An official statement shared by the makers reads, “Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with Cape of Good Films present Bhooth Bangla starring Akshay Kumar, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav. Directed by Priyadarshan and Produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor. Releasing in theatres on 10th April 2026.”

Why the April 10, 2026 window matters for Akshay Kumar

The decision to prepone Bhooth Bangla is being viewed as a strategic scheduling call, especially considering Akshay Kumar’s packed theatrical slate and the increasing importance of securing a clean release corridor. By shifting from mid-May to mid-April, the film positions itself for an earlier holiday and summer runway, while potentially avoiding a more crowded box office period.

For fans of Akshay Kumar’s comedy streak and Priyadarshan’s massy storytelling, the new date adds momentum to the film’s build-up, with the updated calendar suggesting that the makers are keen to maximise the theatrical window and audience engagement.
