Seen in Notting Hill, London

Seen in… Notting Hill, London

The British term fly tipping is derived from the verb tip, meaning “to throw out of a vehicle”, and on the fly, meaning “on the wing” – to throw away carelessly or casually.

No Fly Tipping‘ signs are rare in London, but some of the original signs still remain like this faded council one, just below a more recent one above it. Located on the wall of this quiet residential road in the Notting Hill area.

I’m not sure why the sign is still there, but I found it humorous that of all the places on this road they could have just dumped this mysterious suitcase, they chose to leave it right under this No Fly Tipping sign! 🙂

Taken with my Apple iPhone SE.
