Street scenes, Soho, Banksy, neon signs and an old record store – 10 central London scenes from 2002

I’ll start off this selection of 10 archive photos from 2002 with this view of the Stallion sex shop in Soho – from the time when Soho was dark, sleazy and exciting.

The long lost On The Beat record store in Hanway Street, around the back of Oxford Street, W1

See my photo feature here from Nov 2012.

Banksy works under the arches of London Bridge railway bridge.

Drenched walkers head over the Millennium Bridge (aka the Wobbly Bridge) towards the north bank of the Thames and St Pauls cathedral.

The former entrance to the closed Strand/Aldwych tube station was being used by a photo machine in 2002.

I took a tour of the disused station in June 2014 – see the photos here.

No Bills, no sir.

Foyles bookshop neon signs.

Soho espresso bar.

Sandwich bar, Whitfield Street.
