Oh no. The high school student isn’t a professional song writer.

Impressions:

It seems like we’re back into doing a march through each girl in turn, and a poor start of it here. An ex-fan of hers is mad at her because she’s not Trying Her Hardest™. ie She has songwriter’s block. And so the solution is… telling her to stop worrying about it. And I guess that worked? Or didn’t work? It’s hard to even tell because it spends the last five minutes distracted by turning into a fanservice date montage instead. At a shopping mall. You know, where the teens go. 

So it swerves away from anything with even the thinnest whiff of substance, even if once again it was some parental figure expressing disappointment, only to stick to the entirely superficial fix, and then rehashes its old schtick. Give me some meat here, or at the very least, a few swerves. Misunderstand the nature of her insecurity to actually dig out and address the underlying cause. And don’t predicate it all on not Trying Her Hardest™. At the very least, sell that. Show her trying to get the crowd into her stuff and them rejecting it for the tired and familiar. Then you’d actually show her failing instead of nebulously saying it happened, off-screen, years ago, trust me on this, very traumatizing.
