UCLan Research Study: Challenges and Impacts of NHS Continuing Healthcare Framework within Integrated Care Systems
Posted on: May 17th, 2025 by Amy
The University of Central Lancashire is conducting a research study exploring the Challenges and Impacts of the NHS Continuing Healthcare process (CINCH) on patients, carers and relatives. The aim of the study is to help shape future processes and improve support for patients and their families.
NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is a package of ongoing care that is arranged and funded solely by the National Health Service (NHS) where the individual has been assessed and found to have a ‘primary health need’ as set out in the National Framework. Such care is provided to an individual aged 18 or over, to meet health and associated social care needs that have arisen as a result of disability, accident or illness.
The study aims to understand the experiences and impacts on patients of the NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) process. It is an opportunity to pose questions and give feedback to share with those professionals who undertook the assessment or were part of the process.
If you have been assessed for NHS Continuing Healthcare and are aged 65+, or if you are a carer or relative aged 18+, the study wants to hear from you. Participation involves sharing experiences with NHS CHC through online surveys. All data collected will be anonymised to ensure confidentiality and privacy.
If you were aged 65+ at the time of assessment or are a carer or relative over the age of 18 and are interested in taking part, or if you would like more information about the study, please click here or contact djackson-howarth@uclan.ac.uk.
Please note the deadline for taking part in this project is Monday 30 June 2025.
