Cons

- No extra bags included
- Fairly pricey
Our Verdict
The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is a powerful and easy to use robot vacuum cleaner with a mopping function (including washing and drying its own mop pads) and automatic emptying. It leaves your home sparkling clean, gets into corners and along skirting boards, and avoids all obstacles in its path. You get a lot for the price point – but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s far from cheap.

Best Prices Today: Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro
Like many robot vacuum cleaners nowadays, the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is also equipped with mopping functionality, in this case highly effective twin rotating mop pads.

Both the robot vacuum itself and the base station have containers for dust collection and separate tanks for clean and dirty water.
Although the containers in the robot vacuum itself aren’t huge, this doesn’t matter too much as the tanks in the base station are generously sized (4L each for clean and dirty water and 3L for dust). Emptying from the vacuum cleaner to the base station is automatic, so you only need to act when the large base station tanks are full.
A minor drawback of the Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is that the dust in the base station can only be collected in a bag, which then has to be disposed of, rather than a container that can be emptied. While it’s more convenient solution and good for allergy sufferers, it’s also expensive and environmentally unfriendly. I’d like to see an alternative with a container that can be manually emptied.

Easy to use
Getting started with the Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is very easy. After just a few minutes, the vacuum cleaner is ready to use and can make its first map of your home.
Mapping is quick and easy, but not as complete as I’d like. For example, it wasn’t able to identify and add any carpets or rugs. However, it’s easy to edit the map in the app and add things such as carpets, furniture, virtual boundaries and more.

Overall, the app is very detailed and easy to use. For example, you can select settings for different types of cleaning and schedule them. You can also control how and when the vacuum cleaner’s container should be emptied and how the mops should be cleaned and dried.
And, as the Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is equipped with a camera, you can see what’s happening in real time in the app and even go in and steer the robot vacuum manually.

Thorough cleaning
Once it gets going, the Robot Vacuum 5 Pro does a really good job of cleaning. With suction power of 20,000 Pa and a rotating mop that, like the side brush, can extend out, it cleans thoroughly. But I found I needed to use the maximum suction power and choose the deep clean setting for the route it should take through the rooms.
Maximum suction power does, of course, increase the noise level but you can, of course, schedule cleaning for when you’re not at home.
The Robot Vacuum 5 Pro gets right up to edges and corners but it can have issues reaching spots in low spaces under furniture – even though the radar tower retracts into the robot’s body for lower clearance – but this is a problem for all robot vacuums.
Obstacle avoidance works brilliantly. As you can see in the above images, it was able to navigate around a number of small, low obstacles with impressive success. However, the AI function for identifying different types of dirt (differentiating between solids and liquids and cleaning accordingly) is not yet a perfected feature.
Overall, the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is a robot vacuum cleaner that does most things right. Although it doesn’t have a flagship-level price, it’s still far from cheap with a UK RRP of £799.99. Still, its price has dropped since launch, and you can buy it from Xiaomi for £655.99 or from Amazon for £622.99 at the time of writing, which could make it a much more appealing buy.
